Kind Regards,
Al

Assuming you mean 32-bit PowerPC, I'm running 12.0-CURRENT r302710 (that
is pre-ino64 and pre-64-bit-time_t) with no software-related problems.

There is one hardware-related problem, but that's not Apple's fault: I'm
using SATA-IDE adapter (this allows to use larger HDDs instead of 320GB
WD Blue, the largest 2.5" IDE drive available on the market) and it often
would fail to boot and I have to power-cycle the machine a few times until
it passes through.  Sometimes (rarely) it fails during heavy disk activity
(e.g. building ports in the tinderbox).

On-board NIC and USB work fine, even sound works, but there's no mixer so
it's not easily possible to control the volume.

(sorry)... on Mac mini G4 (7447A revision 1.1, 1250.41 MHz, 1GB RAM).

A PowerMac G4 gets my vote. ;-)

Re: Best Hardware

Al Zick
Hello,

I wish that I still had a G5 or G4 that I could use for testing. The
reason I am asking is because I have a G3 Blue & White in a data
center. I really want to upgrade the OS on it. I was thinking of
trying FreeBSD on a G3 that I have at home to see how it does on it.
Really, in the end, I would like to replace all my web servers with
X5000s.

I am also hoping they will complete the open source powerpc notebook
project.

Kind Regards,
Al

Re: Best Hardware

Justin Hibbits-3
The G3 should work fine, albeit probably a bit slow.
