Blackbird Support

Curtis Hamilton-2
I've been unable to get the latest CURRENT to install on my Blackbird
via VGA.

What is the recommended release to install?

What problems are you running into? Current should work fine on it.

Here's what I'm running on mine:

  blackbird1% uname -a
  FreeBSD blackbird1.lonesome.com 13.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 13.0-CURRENT r349478 GENERIC  powerpc
  blackbird1% uptime
  12:01PM  up 42 days,  7:28, 6 users, load averages: 0.23, 0.16, 0.14

Are you perhaps being caught in this trap?

I just tested it, and this is still an issue.

I configured the system that it automatically selects FreeBSD (since I can't do that via a keyboard),
and I don't see the FreeBSD output on the Monitor unless I apply D15818 and manually deal with merge
conflicts. Then I do see the output in yellow...

Except for updating the patch to apply cleanly, what is needed to get it in the tree.
Automatically selecting the OS to boot seems a nice feature even with a Monitor/Keyboard
attached.

Best regards
Michael

I followed that tip and have a monitor attached via VGA. I can select the
freebsd install, but the system would crash during the boot process.

However, I think it may be my board.  I tried installing openSUSE
Tumbleweed and after it installed it crashed during startup. Now the system
shuts down during IPL with errors about “no functional no chiplets.  It
continues to loop through this process until I power it off.

Finally got my blackbird working and installed 13-CURRENT.  However,
after a couple reboots I'm now getting the below panic:

I'm getting this panic with and without a monitor attached. Any ideas?

Re: Blackbird version to install

Leandro
You could try to boot in single user mode and run "fsck -y" twice, to make
sure the panic isn't being caused by a corrupted FS.

Re: Blackbird version to install

Curtis Hamilton-2
I solved the issue by using fsck with "-f".  Seems "-y" alone does not
clear all fs issues.
